Holdem Poker Games

pokers golden rule

The majority of poor-to-mediocre poker players have one thing in common..

They play too many POOR STARTING Hands!

This can also be thought of as playing too many hands overall. The player who is in almost every hand will win a lot of hands, yes, but he/she will also almost surely go broke in the end.

This is especially true in a game like hold-em which features five community cards & only two cards in each players hand.
In these kind of games the winner is often decided by results like:
High Kicker beating low kicker..
Higher Straight beating lower straight..
Higher Flush beating lower flush.. etc.

Obviously, it becomes important in these kinds of poker situations to be holding the stronger cards.

Q: what starting cards are playable?
A: There is no hard & fast guideline as every cash game features variables such as #of players, 'looseness' of players, position with respect to the button etc. However general rules apply.

1. PLAY HIGH PAIRS
2. PLAY HIGH SUITED CARDS
3. PLAY HIGH CONNECTING CARDS or simply..

* PLAY QUALITY CARDS

When in doubt..sit the hand out
